François Bauchet

Graduated from the Beaux-Arts in Bourges with the intention to become a sculptor, he quickly moved to the furniture design.

François Bauchet's designs furniture, ceramics, interior design projects - are somewhere between art and design. In 1983, he design the project called "this is a chair", which made him known worldwide.

He had the opportunity to collaborate with the Manufacture of Giens, the furniture manufacturer Cinna, the Cartier Foundation, the Café du Jeu de Paume, the Museum of Art and Industry in Saint Etienne and the Musée d'Azay.

In 2002, the Furniture Fair awarded him the Designer of the Year.

He returned to the Beaux Arts ... as a teacher, in Mâcon then Saint Etienne. François Bauchet is characterized by compassion towards others and to the world.

Create little, but create well

For his textile inauguration, with the Maison Thevenon, he proceeded as usual: taking an interest in materials and techniques, question the very meaning of the product that is to be created. Avoiding long narrative speeches, preferring to create models that impose themselves as evidently, materials which are very much present, without going towards imagery overload that is suitable to our society.
